On my left heel, it says “Don’t”
On my right heel, it says “Disappear”
I got it done in white ink to be sort of ironic. I got inked at a tattoo parlor in suffern, ny. (I can’t remember the place’s name. :[ ) It’s only my second tattoo and I got it done on complete impulse. I walked in with my friends who wanted a piercing and decided to get it done. I absoloutely love this tattoo.

Laughing gulls are the most popular sea gull found in Puerto Rico, the beautiful country my family is from. They are very rarely found away from the ocean, and are extremely resourceful, inquisitive and intelligent. They are sometimes seen as obnoxious, but are also a symbol of freedom, versatility and a carefree attitude, as well as a reminder to ride the fickle currents of our emotional lives.
Flor de Maga is the national flower of Puerto Rico. The story is that God gave special powers to the beautiful flower that was closest to him, which she used to create a colorful garden. It was so spectacular that it seemed magical, thus the name “Flor de Maga” which translates to “Magician Flower.”
Every single detail of the piece has been perfectly mapped: the way the top bird follows the lines of my breast and my ribs; the pleasing ‘S’ shape created by the six objects; the exact line ending the image right before my back begins, the boldness of the dark birds against the delicate flowers. It’s an untraditional size for a rib tattoo since there is no piece that wraps on to my back, and only a small piece wrapping on my front, but it follows the curves of my bones and body like a science. The tattoo on the inner arch of my foot follows the theme as well with “She flies with her own wings” written in Spanish.
The entire piece is a symbol of where I came from and that there is no limit to where I can go.
The flowers still need to be colored in.

I got this for my mom (obviously) on my 18th birthday. She was diagnosed with breast cancer back in May.
